The MCITP Database Administrator 2008 certification is for the individual that wants to go the route in networking that deals with databases.

You should have one to two years of experience using SQL Server 2008 or two to three years of experience using other SQL server versions.

This certification requires only two exams:

1.) 70-432: Microsoft SQL Server 2008, Implementation and Maintenance

2.) 70-450: PRO: Designing, Optimizing and Maintaining a Database Administrative Solution Using Microsoft SQL Server 2008

Please Note: This certification will be discontinued July 31, 2013. Some exams will remain in market and allow you to earn the MCSA: SQL Server 2008 certification.

Salary of Database Administrators

The Bureau of Labor Statistics states that the average median salary was $73,490 in May 2010. www.bls.gov

Job Growth - Employment is projected to grow 31 percent from 2010 – 2020.

Education – A bachelor’s degree in an information or computer related subject is desired. Experience in computer networking is important and of course network and database certifications will make you a high prospect.
