The MCITP Enterprise Desktop Administrator on Windows 7 certification is good for any individual who administers clients in a Windows networked environment. 

It is recommend that the candidates have 3 years of prior experience installing and configuring Windows networks.

Most candidates with this certification move on to earn their MCITP for Windows Server 2008.

With the MCITP: Enterprise Desktop Administrator, you can start a career as a computer network technician and network administrator.



This certification requires only two exams:

1.) 70-680: Configuring Windows 7

2.) 70-686:Windows 7, Enterprise Desktop Administrator

Please note: This certification will be discontinued January 31, 2014. The exams will remain in market, and by passing these exams you will continue to earn the MCSA: Windows 7 certification.


Exam 70-680: Configuring Windows 7

When you pass the Exam 70-680 you will automatically earn the MCTS: Windows Server 2008. This certification will help you land an entry level position as a computer network technician.

The Exam 70-680 will test your skills in:

  1. Installing, Upgrading, and Migrating to Windows 7
  2. Deploying Windows 7
  3. Configuring Hardware and Applications
  4. Configuring Network Connectivity
  5. Configuring Access to Resources
  6. Configuring Mobile Computing
  7. Monitoring and Maintaining Systems that Run Windows 7
  8. Configuring Backup and Recovery Options

Exam 70-686: Windows 7, Enterprise Desktop Administrator

The Exam 70-686 will test your skills in:

  1. Planning and Managing a Client Life Cycle Strategy
  2. Designing a Standard Image
  3. Designing Client Configurations
  4. Designing a Windows 7 Client Deployment
  5. Designing Application Packages for Deployment
  6. Identifying and Resolving Deployment and Client Configuration Issues

Even though this certification is going to expire on January 31, 2014, it will still count towards the new Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA): Windows 7.

I always make sure I practice at home as much as I can. This way I have control over my own network. The more practice you do then the more you will learn with hands-on labs.
